Let’s talk raw, shall we?
I remember the first time I tried Vegan food, nevermind Raw. A friend of mine, who is Vegan, took me to Purgatory Pizza in Downtown LA. He assured me that it was de-licious. Different, but tasty nonetheless. I agreed to give it a try, but in no way did I think I was going to enjoy it. My reasoning was that he was use to the taste of Vegan food and I was not. But, alas, my motto is don’t knock it until you try it, so I went into Purgatory Pizza with an open mind and an empty stomach.
Minutes later, I was munching away at the second slice. And my friend was absolutely right. Of course vegan cheese isn’t going to taste like the real dairy deal, but, when handled with a little TLC, does taste very, very good. This opened the door for me to try not only other vegan creations (The vegan nachos at Real Food Daily are out of this world), but to give Raw food a go.
Some Raw food is a little funky; others win my nom nom award. If you plan serving some Raw dishes at your reception, shower or engagement party, I have some suggestions from The Raw Chef.
I can eat avocado just as nature intended…freshly plucked, halved and sprinkled with some salt and pepper. So this was right up my alley.
Ditch the frozen pizza rolls for these raw treats!
And there’s dessert too!
